These folks are dear dear dear friends. The kind we share Thanksgiving and birthdays and summer vacations with. They are more than friends, really. They are our family. { I have asked permission to write about them here on my blog}. Joel successfully battled cancer last month, although his eye was a casualty. When they asked me to take these photographs after the surgery, I was so proud of them for being brave enough to stand in front of a camera after all they had gone through. I was determined to let the photographs show their strength and unconditional love as a family. This may seem strange, but I really didn't realize until this shoot just how much impact a family photograph can have. Thanks to the Kimmels, I can see it's potential to heal.
